Some sound sources just catch the ear, even when you’re trying to concentrate on something else.  Traveling sound sources are particularly alerting. Moving sources leave behind expanding waves that may interact, either accentuating or attenuating their perception over time. Sometimes it’s just too much—call the acousticians!

 

This sculpture examines a couple of traveling sources’ propagation visually rather than acoustically. In catching the eye rather than the ear, can the frenetic become tranquil?
