Two Friends Talking

There’s something about talking to a friend.

 

In this sculpture, the two brass rings are friends, old and true. A lifetime of shared experiences has aligned the two of them to rotate about a common center. Yet, they remain individuals. Each friend has its own axis of rotation, giving each a unique perspective of the other. Their exchanges shift these axes, yet the axes are never identical. Differing axes are like perspectives, permitting these two friends to exchange rotational energy. If their axes were fully aligned, nothing would be shared and neither friend could be influenced by the other. Friends know that their differences let them both share their strengths. Always, at the center of things, they are there for each other.
