Champagne for Breakfast

Regularity and predictability in life is soothing.  Hot coffee happened as the first thing today, hot coffee will happen as the first thing tomorrow.  Sounds good, and it is.

 

But within each of us dwells the coiled spring of impulse, held carefully in check.  It escapes on a rare and precious morning, and you hear yourself declare "This day shall be like no other!"

 

It's the kind of day you start with champagne for breakfast, followed by exuberance dished up in wholesale lots. New experiences are to be lived, unknown roads travelled.  Soon enough, you know that you will reestablish welcome regularity.  But the horizon will be forever wider, and possibilities once again endless.

 

This sculpture looks at champagne bubbles in the early morning light. Rising, expanding, not fully predictable, a swirl of possibilities. A reminder to seize the day, that day.
